Services for non-profit organisations
I have experience in providing digital and editorial services to non-profit organisations, both as a committee member and as a freelancer.
My experience ranges from filming a series of promotional videos and co-developing a business plan for a regional transport organisation, to writing online features and opinion pieces for a global football charity.
I have also written about relevant topics, including hidden disabilities and LGBTQ+ issues, in a journalistic capacity, and thus I have a personal interest in charitable and non-profit causes.
Non-profit organisation case studies
I was commissioned by Rotherham Community Transport to produce some videos for their website. I worked along with the organisation at all stages of the brief, which put me in a position to arrange and conduct interviews with their clients and users, as well as take sole responsibility for all editing and filming.
In April 2023, I was commissioned by Sheffield Wednesday FC to start and run an LGBTQ+ supporters' group, Rainbow Owls, for a launch date of June 2023. Following a successful co-ordinated launch, which included the announcement of four celebrity ambassadors, an LGBTQ+ charity partner and a matchday hospitality partner on the same day, Rainbow Owls garnered almost 100 members and more than 1,000 Twitter followers in 12 weeks. The growth of this group also involved strong networking skills at LGBTQ+ events and information stalls, design skills to produce leaflets and the development of a website, all on a miniscule budget.
Research services
My background also includes research assistance, such as collating deprivation levels for a regional charity, providing football facts for an UEFA Women’s Champions League Final match programme and case studies for a toolkit by the Football Supporters' Association.
Proofreading and book consultancy
I have additional experience in proofreading dissertations for international students with accuracy and efficiency, thanks to my eye for detail and strong hold of the English language, as well as my empathy and professionalism. I also provided bespoke consultation for a first-time YA author on his LGBT-themed novel, with copy-editing tasks that included clarity of language and consistency of characterisation, as well as proofreading grammar and spelling.
