What is a copy-editor?: Projects
A copy-editor not only focuses on tasks that are typically associated with proofreading - such as correcting grammar, punctuation and spelling - but also ensures that written copy is improved by restructuring it.
As a copy-editor, I never change the actual meaning of the content but, instead, I fine-tune and polish the technical quality of it. This means that I specifically look out for sentences that could be made tighter and more concise, as well as phrases and words that are missing or repetitively used and make the copy appear too confusing or wordy. Moreover, all basic forms of cross- and fact-checking are performed to ensure complete accuracy.
By ensuring that your words flow coherently and consistently, you can be assured that any copy will look as professional and readable as possible.
